Stover and Williams, 1987, p. 11:

Remarks:
Duxbury (1977, p. 37) considered the specimens which Wiggins (1972) identified as Nelchinopsis kostromiensis (Vozzhennikova 1967) Wiggins 1972 to be different from those described and illustrated by Vozzhennikova (1967, p. 85-86, pl. 26, figs. 1-6; pl. 27, figs. 1-2) as Gonyaulax kostromiensis. In the same publication, Duxbury 1. returned Vozzhennikova`s species to Gonyaulacysta (to which it had been assigned by Sarjeant in Davey et al., 1969, p. 10), 2. proposed Alaskadinium (nom. subst. pro. Nelchinopsis Wiggins 1972) for the specimens described and illustrated by Wiggins (1972), and 3. renamed them Alaskadinium wigginsii. Specimens and color transparencies of Nelchinopsis kostromiensis from Alaskan samples provided by D.W. Engelhardt and V.D. Wiggins indicated that the Alaskan forms are conspecific with those from the U.S.S.R. and from England. Accordingly, we do not accept Duxbury`s suppression of Nelchinopsis and regard his renaming of Wiggin`s specimens as unnecessary. However, we concur with Duxbury that the paratabulation of M. kostromiensis is gonyaulacacean, rather than the more complex pattern presented by Wiggins.
