From Williams et al., 2017:

[Cernicysta, Stover and Helby, 1987d, p. 263, 265

Type species: originally as Lithodinia helbyi, Morgan, 1980 (pl.18, figs.4–6)] ; Cernicysta helbyi, Stover and Helby, 1987

Original description: [Stover and Helby, 1987]:

Synopsis: Cysts proximate, subspherical to ellipsoidal; body wall composed of two layers; ectophragm forms parasutural folds or septa indicating a paratabulation of 3-4`?, 6n, Xc, 5n`, lp, 1````; paraplates 3`` and 4`` separated by middorsal fold or septum and lateral boundaries of dorsal precingular and postcingular paraplates not aligned longitudinally; archeopyle apical, type (tA).

Description:
Shape: Outline subcircular to elliptical in dorsal ventral view, elliptical in apical antapical view; transverse axis longer than dorsal ventral axis.
Wall relationships: Autophragm and ectophragm close together over most of cyst, generally more widely separated beneath parasutural features.
Wall features: Parasutural folds and septa continuous, of essentially uniform height; ectocoel with very slender, curved, and generally intersecting, occasionally isolated, fibrous projections which, in plan view simulate an imperfect, punctogranulate ornamentation.
Archeopyle: Apical, type (tA); operculum free.
Paratabulation: Except for apical series, other major series clearly and more or less completely expressed by parasutural features; formula: 3-4`? 6n, Xc, 5```, lp, 1````. Paraplates 3`` and 4`` separated by longitudinal, middorsal fold or septum; neither of these paraplates aligned longitudinally with middorsal postcingular paraplate; posterior intercalary paraplate large and quadrangular.
Paracingulum: Indicated by transverse, parallel folds or septa; undivided, ends offset markedly.
Parasulcus: Anterior position indicated by relatively deep parasulcal notch, delimited elsewhere by surrounding paraplates; generally undivided.
Size: Small to intermediate.

Cernicysta Stover and Helby, 1987d. Cernicysta has a paratabulation of 3-4`?, 6", xc, 5"' , 1p, 1"''. Paraplates 3" and 4" are separated by a middorsal fold. The archeopyle is apical.
