Original description: [Qian Ze-shu et al., 1986]: (Translations: Fensome et al., 1991, p. 297 (diagnosis); GSC, courtesy R. Fensome):

Diagnosis:
Cysts proximate, acavate, more or less flattened in dorso-ventral view, ceratioid in outline, with an apical horn and two antapical horns overlapping each other in their base, not being on the same plane. Autophragm smooth or ornamented with features of low relief; paracingulum and inner body absent.
Paratabulation only indicated by archeopyle.
Archeopyle combination of type (AtI3P)a.

Affinities:
This new genus differs from Palaeoperidinium in, its ceratioid outline, its two antapical horns which are in different planes and its operculum which is attached along the margin of the equivalent of the paracingulum. In the latter genus, the operculum is completely detached. The new genus is also distinguished from Odontochitina by its lack of an inner body, the positioning of the two antapical horns in different planes and the presence of a combination archaeopyle. It differs from Laciniadinium as well in that the archaeopyle structure contains an apical paraplate.
