Original description: [Alberti, 1959]: (Translation: Stover and Evitt, 1978, p. 237):

Description:
Shell flattened, its outline pentagonal to irregularly rhomboidal. Epitheca forming an acute angled triangle, strongly rounded off at the free end. Hypotheca shorter than the epitheca, inverted trapezoidal. With two horn-like antapical processes of unequal length which taper toward their free ends. Shell unplated, without transverse furrow. From the ventral and dorsal sides of the shell arise a few strong, flange-like processes whose bases may coalesce with one another. These protrusions taper forward very strongly; their extremities are often forked and connected to the ends of other protrusions by thin filaments. Outer edge of shell nearly entire, in different places slightly indented. With a large, oval, thick-walled inner body, whose surface is covered with wart-like protuberances.
