Edwardsiella

From Williams et al., 2017:

[Edwardsiella, Versteegh and Zevenboom in Versteegh, 1995, p.88

Nomenclatural junior synonym: Novedwardsiella (name illegitimate). Ă–zdikmen (2009, p.234) considered Edwardsiella Versteegh and Zevenboom to be illegitimate because it is a junior homonym of Edwardsiella Andres, 1883; however, Edwardsiella Andres is an animal and under the I.C.N. does not pre-empt Edwardsiella Versteegh and Zevenboom. Versteegh and Zevenboom (1995, p.217) also proposed this name.

Type species: Edwardsiella sexispinosum, Versteegh and Zevenboom, 1995 (pl.2, figs.1,4)]

Original description: [Versteegh and Zevenboom, 1995]:

Diagnosis:
Gonyaulacoid dinoflagellate cysts with gonal processes. The processes consist of three membranous lists which are connected basally over their total length. For at least the upper half of the processes, the width of these membranous lists (and thus the process diameter) is either constant or decreases slightly. At the distal ends of the processes, the membranous lists are still present, giving the processes a truncated appearance. In case plate margins are indicated by septa, the process wings form a continuation of these septa.
