From Williams et al., 2017:

[Neosphaerodictyon, Slimani, 2003, p. 273-274.

Type species: Neosphaerodictyon filosum, Slimani, 2003 (pl.1, figs.8–9)]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Original description: [Slimani, 2003]:

Diagnosis:
Acavate, chorate dinoflagellate cyst with a spherical to sub-spherical central body and a reticulate periphragm and filamentous processes. Gonyaulacoid paratabulation indicated by intratabular processes (1 process per plate): 4′, 6″, 6c, ?s, 5–6‴, 1p, 1⁗ Apical archeopyle (type tA) with an angular margin, hexagonal to sub-hexagonal outline and free operculum.

Discussion:
Neosphaerodictyon is unique in having a reticulate periphragm and filamentous processes.
Hystrichokolpoma Klump, 1953, Hystrichosphaeridium Deflandre, 1937 and Oligosphaeridium Davey and Williams, 1966 differ from the new genus in having a simple periphragm and simple cylindrical processes.
Compositosphaeridium Dodekova, 1974 differs from the new genus in having polytubular processes.
Cordosphaeridium Eisenack, 1963b differs from the new genus in having a precingular archeopyle.
Membranilarnacia Eisenack, 1963a differs from the new genus in being cavate with an ectophragm supported by non-tabular rods or pillars.
