Jolley, D.W. , 1992; A new species of the dinoflagellate genus Areolgera Lejeune-Carpentier from the Late Paleocene of the eastern British Isles. Tertiary Research 14(1): 25-32. Leiden September 1992. Abstract: A new species of the genus Areoligera Lejeune-Carpentier 1938 is described from the Late Palaeocene (Thanetian) of the eastern British Isles. The new species is diagnosed by solid, unbranching, distally flared, ribbon-like, broad processes and lack of complex trabeculae. The development of dorsal paracingular processes and the presence of process complexes on the ventral surface is of use in distinguishing this species. Records of the taxon from the Late Palaeocene of Belgium, Denmark and north Germany are discussed.
