Some new genera of Late Cretaceous to Eocene Microphytoplnkton from Western Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang

He Chengquan, 1984; Some new genera of Late Cretaceous to Eocene Microphytoplnkton from Western Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang. Acta Palaeontologica Sinica vol.23, no.6 pp.768-774 pl.1 Late Cretaceous to Eocene marine strata are widely distributed in the western part of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, and microphytoplankton there are [well] developed. From the Bashibulake section in Wuqia County alone, over one hundred genera and more than three hundred species of dinoflagellate, chlorophyte and acritarch fossils were collected and analyzed this one time. The materials described in this paper were analyzed principally from this section and the nearby Moguigou section, [specifically, from] the Wuyitake Formation (Turonian to early Senonian), the lower portion of the Qimugen Formation (Palaeocene), the Wulagen Formation (Middle Eocene) and the upper part of the lower portion of the Bashibulake Formation. There are also a few specimens taken from the Wulukeqiati [section] in Wuqia County and the Aertashi section in Shache County. In total there are 5 new genera and 5 new species of dinoflagellates and l new genus and l new species of chlorophytes.
