Powell, A.J. (1988); A modified dinoflagellate cyst biozonation for latest Palaeocene and earliest Eocene sediments from the central North Sea. Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology, 56, pp.327-244, text-fig.1-4, pl.1, tb.1. Annotated abstract: The various dinoflagellate cyst biozonations for the Late Palaeocene and the earliest Eocene are discussed. A modified "industrial" biozonation scheme is presented, consisting of four biozones. In down-hole order: the Deflandrea oebisfeldensis Acme Biozone, the Apectodinium augustum Interval Biozone, the Alisocysta margarita Interval biozone and the Palaeoperidinim pyrophorum Interval Biozone. The Palaeocen/Eocene boundary is examined in particular. The highest occurrence of Apectodinium augustum is proposed as the marker for the top of the central North Sea Palaeocene.
